Director’s Newsletter #7-18, October 7, 2018 Good afternoon everyone! Congratulations to all members of the Bronco Marching Band as the group competed at the Judson Rocket Review yesterday, earning 2nd place and outstanding percussion! Now we are on our way to the UIL evaluation process that starts with Region Marching Contest at Farris Stadium on Saturday, with the band performing at 6:30 pm. This past Friday, many of our parents made it to the band hall to decorate for all of the students. A very special thank you to Deb Dart for being the chairperson of this great tradition and making it special for the students.

I’d also like to thank you to Chip Thompson and Guy & Maria Mullin for taking time on Monday to put wheels on all of our front drop props prior to Pre UIL, and then proceeded to help with Pre UIL duties that evening. Your selflessness and giving of time to our students and program are appreciated! As report cards will be going out on Friday, a new 6 weeks is beginning. Remind students to stay organized and on top of all assignments to avoid any last minute issues with grades. We will have our monthly booster meeting on Tuesday, October 9th at 7 pm in the band hall. We invite all to come out and join our great parent organization to support the Bronco Band. Wednesday is PSAT day so we will NOT have morning rehearsal that day. However, we will have a Stadium rehearsal at Farris until 7 pm with Mr. Spicer. Please remember that students can be picked up from the stadium unless they are tuba players or in our percussion section. These students will need to return to BHS to help unload equipment back into the band hall. If you haven’t yet done so, be sure to visit our new Private Lessons page on the band website. Teachers have let me know that they have been in contact with many parents, but now space is limited. Be sure to CLICK HERE to check out our lesson teachers, and set up weekly lessons for your student. As a note, we are continuing to look for teachers of instruments not yet covered. As we make contact, we will update this page. We are back on the football schedule this Friday with our CRUSH game! Be sure to check out information HERE regarding ticket sales and limitations for the game. Percussion sectional will start at the conclusion of the BLT meeting. 10/12/18 - Friday - Pep Rally 7 am 10/12/18 - Friday - BHS @ O’Connor @ Farris, 7:30 pm 10/13/18 - Saturday - UIL Contest. Performance time 6:30 pm. The band reports to the band hall at 3:00 pm
