Director’s Newsletter #14-18, November 25, 2018
Good evening everyone!
It’s officially the start of the most wonderful time of the year!
I hope everyone enjoyed their time off and had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It doesn’t feel that long ago that we were just getting started with summer band and now here we are, 4 weeks away from winter break. We have quite a few things happening in the next month so please be sure to stay on top of the events list on the website to avoid schedule conflicts.
Congratulations to Eddie Sanchez and Cassidy Birmingham who each won $50 in the Fall Dinner drawing. Thank you to everyone who participated by selling tickets to support our program. We appreciate your consistent efforts!
Report cards will be issued on Friday morning. To continue participation in all UIL mandated events, such as playoff football games, all students must have passing grades in all classes on this report card.
Freshman District auditions take place this Friday at Stevens HS. It is important that your student arrives at Stevens as fast as possible to check in. My recommendation would be for students to pick up something to eat on the way there as well. Auditions will begin as rooms are ready with judges and students without an official end time. Students CANNOT use their phones in the audition so please make sure your student contacts you when the audition is over.
On Saturday, All-Region auditions take place also at Stevens HS. Students need to arrive by 8 am to check in. Since we have a football game that afternoon as well, we have specific travel arrangements for these students below. Please be sure to read those items carefully.
We will have 2 buses departing from Stevens HS for those students auditioning. The first bus will depart around 11 am to get to the dome just prior to kick off, and the second bus will depart when the rest of the students auditioning have finished. Students participating will need to take their uniforms and hats with boxes home on Friday, and take them with them to Stevens on Saturday morning, along with their alternate uniforms, band shoes, and socks. Please double check that your student has everything together Friday evening.
The SAT will also be happening on Saturday as well at Brandeis. If your student is taking this test, please email me to let me know you plan to get your student to the dome for the game.
For the rest of the band and colorguard members, report time to Brandeis is 8:45 am, with run through starting at 9 am on Saturday.
As for details regarding tickets for the game, it will be on Saturday, at the Alamodome with kickoff at noon. Brandeis tickets will be sold Wednesday - Friday from 11:30 am - 2:15 pm in the cafeteria. Pre-sale tickets are $11 for adults and $7 for students. All tickets at the gate are $13. ALL SEATS ARE GENERAL ADMISSION, meaning if you wish to sit next to the band, be sure to get to the dome early. We will be the home team this week. Parking is $15 and there is a strict bag policy to enter the dome. You can find information on that policy HERE.
Congratulations again to Coach Branscom, staff, and the Bronco Football team who beat Steele last Friday! We wish them the best this week against Brownsville Hannah.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net
Welcome back this week and GO BRONCOS!
