Director’s Newsletter #16-18, December 9, 2018
Good afternoon everyone!
This past week was full of many reasons to celebrate, starting with the presentation for being voted the TNL Band of the Season! A crew from Fox 29 and The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio came out to spend time with us during the school day, and present us with a certificate of recognition for winning the band grant for the third year in a row. Thank you to our parents and Brandeis community for pushing us to the top with more than 87,000 votes this season! The segment will be airing on Thursday, December 13th between 9 am and 10 am on Fox 29.
Congratulations to the 15 members of the Bronco Band who earned entry and participated in the All-Region Orchestra Clinics and Concerts on Friday & Saturday. In a matter of 10 hours, these students along with many other band and orchestra students from Region 29 put together a program for a performance on Saturday evening. Congratulations again to these students:
Yesterday at the football game, you probably noticed our band and spirit students wearing orange Santa hats throughout the game. Dr. Berger was kind enough to purchase hats for all of our kids as we continued our football season into December. It’s important to take time and thank her for doing so and further engraining our great culture and tying our programs on campus together. Brandeis is a special place where academics, social clubs, spirit groups, fine arts, athletics, and every other aspect on campus all take an interest in each other and support each other endlessly. What you saw yesterday at the dome was a true example of this support.
With that being said, congratulations to coach Branscom, his staff, and all of the student-athletes and trainers on an outstanding football season. We know they will be back stronger than ever come next season and we look forward to giving them our full-fledged support once again.
As marching season will officially come to a close Wednesday evening at our Holiday Concert (until Fiesta), I’d like to thank all students and parents for your endless work this summer and fall. It was a season full of hard work, determination, and grit. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did as a staff and look forward to building upon this season for the future.
Winterguard season is fully underway with both our Varsity and Junior Varsity programs. The rehearsal schedule is listed below, with contests beginning in January. We wish all of our colorguard students the best of luck as they prepare their programs for a great season!
Our boosters are now taking orders for this year’s “I’m With The Band” Orange Chuck shirts until the 31st of December. Shirts are $10 and will be delivered in January.
Tickets for the Battle of Flowers Band Festival are also on sale via the boosters until the 23rd of December. Tickets are $12. The event will be at Alamo Stadium on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Both items can be purchased online at https://www.brandeisband.org/shop
As a final reminder, all band fees are due at this time. If you owe any fees, please send them via cash or check with your student. Your student should turn fees into me, so that I may record your payment. If you have any questions regarding your balance, please send me an email and I will get you an updated balance.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net
