Director’s Newsletter #20-19, January 26, 2020 Good afternoon everyone! Here is what you will find in this week's newsletter: •WINTER GUARD CONTEST SEASON •REGION BAND CONCERT •FOUNDERS DAY •CHICK-FIL-A BRONCO BAND DAY •11th GRADE CAREER PLAN •SOLO & ENSEMBLE LIST CHECK WINTER GUARD CONTEST SEASON Our winter guard will be kicking off their contest season this weekend. Our guard has been split into a JV and Varsity unit that will compete at 4 contests starting this Saturday at Harlandale HS in the Texas Educational Color Guard Association (TECA). Keep up with our guard and get other information at go-teca.org. Best of luck at your first contest and all season, guard! REGION BAND CONCERT Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the All Region clinics and concerts this past week! All 3 performances were outstanding and I hope you enjoyed the process of putting together a performance in a short day and a half. I hope you are all proud of your accomplishments and look forward to this process again next year! FOUNDERS DAY The PTSA Founders Day celebration will be at Brandeis this year. This will include a group of students from all of the fine arts programs at Brandeis. This year, the band will feature our varsity ensemble, jazz ensemble and the drum line. Please be sure to check the calendar for rehearsal dates. Also please note that the event is closed to the general public. Parents will not be able to attend the performances however all rehearsals are open if you’d like to attend one of those. CHICK-FIL-A BRONCO BAND DAY

This Wednesday, January 29th is the first ever Chick-Fil-A DAY and it will benefit the Bronco Band. All day, dine in and drive thru, is an opportunity to support the Bronco Band. Head to the Bandera/1604 location at anytime that day, mention you’re there to support the Bronco Band and a portion of your order will be donated to the program. A very special thank you to Mrs. Letty Reyes who has been putting all of these spirit nights together for our kids and program. 11th GRADE CAREER PLAN With many of the students at Disney last week, all juniors who were on the trip need to make time to visit their counselor to take part in career planner. This took place while we were in Florida and we’d like all of our students to get a make up opportunity. Please make sure that if your student is a junior, they make time to complete this. SOLO & ENSEMBLE LIST CHECK Mr. Cuellar should have all information from students who are participating in Solo & Ensemble this February. While it is not required, it is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED that your student participates in this. It is a great opportunity for your student to grow as a musician. To compete for a rating, students must be eligible. A student may still learn and perform a solo for a grade should they be ineligible. Please remember that students are responsible for all costs related to a piano accompanist.
