Congratulations to Mr. Lemanski who was named Brandeis’ First Year Educator of the Year! He will be recognized on March 4th at then Educator of the Year awards. The event is in the Brennan HS auditorium at 6:30 pm and is open to the public. Please feel free to show up and support Mr. Lemanski for a change to be named Northside’s First Year Educator of the Year. WINTER GUARD CONTEST RESULTS Congratulations to our Winter Guard units who competed yesterday at the T.E.C.A. Harlandale Invitational. Our JV winter guard took 1st place out of 10 groups in the Scholastic Novice division, winning by more than 4 points! Our varsity winter guard placed 10th out of 25 groups in the Scholastic Regional AA category. This now completes 2 of the 4 contests the winter guards will be competing at this year. Their next contest will be Saturday, March 7th, at Harlan High School. Great job by our winter guard students and Mrs. King! GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA

If you attended last Sunday’s Glenn Miller Concert I’m sure you enjoyed their wonderful performance. Additionally, our jazz band and combo did a wonderful job opening and closing the evening! As always, a wonderful job by all of the students. I’d especially like to thank our band boosters, executive board and Mr. Cuellar for making the evening happen. Our parent association is so supportive of all of the goals and events we strive to produce in our program. An event like last Sunday would not be impossible without that incredible support. Thank you! OBJECTIVES We are now in the 6th week of this 4th grading period and objective sheets must be turned in at the start of class on Wednesday, February 26. As discussed earlier this year, all students must achieve a 90% or above on objectives in order to attend the UIL Concert & Sight Reading assessment in early April. Students have until March 6 to achieve that threshold. Any student who does not achieve that will have an alternate assignment to complete in place of the UIL C&SR assessment. SOLO & ENSEMBLE This Thursday, February 27th, is Solo & Ensemble contest at Brandeis HS. Those students who entered the contest have been assigned performance times. Please be sure to check with your student on what time they perform so you can coordinate transportation. Students do need to dress professionally for their performance. Lastly, remember that piano accompanists need to be paid prior to the completion of your student’s performance.
