Contestants:
The South Texas Jazz Festival is open to all high school and middle school big bands, combos, and vocal
Jazz ensembles.
Format:
The South Texas Jazz Festival is a competitive event that allows directors to choose between receiving a confidential rating or comments-only feedback. Outstanding middle school and high school soloists will be recognized, along with exceptional saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and rhythm sections as selected by the judging panel.
Ensembles that opt for a rating and earn a Superior will receive a Superior performance plaque during the evening awards ceremony. Additionally, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be presented in the Varsity, Non-Varsity, and Middle School Jazz Ensemble divisions.
All participating groups will receive digital adjudicator comments and a recording of their performance. Each ensemble will also receive a 20–25 minute clinic with one of their adjudicators immediately following their performance.
