Director's Newsletter #8-18, October 14

HELLO SUBSCRIBERS! Director’s Newsletter #8-18, October 14, 2018 Good afternoon everyone, Congratulations to all members of the Bronco Marching Band & Colorguard as the group earned the schools 11th consecutive Superior Rating at UIL Region Marching Contest yesterday! We are all very proud the work our students have put forth and will continue working on the show, as we head into area contest on Saturday, October 27th at Judson Stadium.

Congratulations to bass drummer Jad Thomaz, trumpet player Andrew Schofield, Guard member Rebecca Dooley, Baritone Section Leader Caelan Matthews, and of course, our BRONCO BAND PARENTS for being awarded our Freshman, Band Member, Guard Member, Officer, and Section of the Week respectively. It’s very special to see how much our students recognize all the work our parents do for our program. We all know that we could not do what we do as a band, without the support of our parents! You are the absolute best! Area information such as schedule will not be available until sometime next week, as all other regions have their UIL this coming Saturday. As for us, we will have the weekend OFF! Our football game will be on Thursday (against Holmes @ FARRIS, 7 pm) so students will have Friday, Saturday & Sunday to rest, catch up on work, and spend time with their families. Because our game is on Thursday, our rehearsal schedule will be slightly different on Monday & Tuesday, rehearsing both days until 7 pm. Tomorrow we will be at Farris rehearsing (barring any last minute district changes). Students can get picked up from the stadium unless they are in the percussion or tuba sections. Those students will need to return to campus to unload instruments. ALL STUDENTS will need their marching shoes and alternate uniform shirts for rehearsal tomorrow. This Friday morning, we are scheduled to take our band panoramic photo. Currently, we are awaiting a response to see if the photo can be done on Thursday afternoon, prior to the game but have yet to hear back. As of now, the picture is set for Friday. Students will need to report to the band hall at 7:30 am and the picture will be taken at 8:00 am. If we are able to move it to Thursday afternoon, I will get this info out ASAP. In a perfect world, we’d rather let the students sleep a bit more on Friday AM after a game on Thursday. Last Tuesday, tickets for our fall dinner went home with students. Each student received 8 tickets to sell, at the price of $8 each. Last year, the band & color guard sold 347 tickets. This year, we have set a very achievable goal of selling 650 tickets as a group. ALL MONEY & UNSOLD TICKETS ARE DUE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23rd, AND NEED TO BE HANDED TO ME, PLEASE. This is very important so we can see what kind of crowd we need to prepare for. We’ve also added a contest for the students to participate in. Any student that sells all 8 tickets, will have their name go into a drawing for two $50 cash prizes. For every additional four tickets sold after the initial eight, students will be added once again to the drawing. Students can win BOTH drawings, for a total of $100. Please check with your student about their tickets and help the program achieve our ticket goal! We are getting closer and closer to the All-District Band auditions happening next month. If you haven’t yet, CLICK HERE to check out our lesson teachers, and set up weekly lessons for your student. Space is limited so contact a teacher today! Last week at our booster meeting, Ms. Angel Mitchell came out to discuss career day with our parents. If you have any interest in participating, please take a look at the flyer HERE and get in contact with her to jump on the schedule. Lastly, my wife Vanessa and I were completely floored and overwhelmed by the generosity and love felt from all of you at our Booster Baby Shower. Thank you so much to our Booster Board for putting this together. No amount of words can ever express what we felt on Tuesday. As I mentioned at the meeting, I know that we have only been a part of Bronco family a few months and for all of you to be so welcoming, mean everything to us. I am so honored to have the opportunity to teach your students. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net.
