Here is what you will find in this week's newsletter: •WINTER GUARD CONTEST RESULTS •JAZZ FESTIVAL •CONCESSIONS •KENDRA SCOTT BAND DAY •UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE •SCHEDULE CHANGES COMPLETE WINTER GUARD CONTEST RESULTS Congratulations to our winter guard units who competed in their first contest yesterday at Harlandale HS. The JV guard earned 9th in the Scholastic Novice class and our Varsity earned 3rd place in the Scholastic Regional AA class! Their next contest will be back at Harlandale HS on Saturday, February 22nd. Congratulations again to the students and staff!
JAZZ FESTIVAL This Saturday will be the 6th annual South Texas Jazz Festival at Brandeis! It will be a full day of competitive middle school and high school jazz ensembles. At the conclusion of the contest, the Capt. Kirk Covington quintet will be performing as well. Come out for a full day of jazz! If you are available to help, please reach out to Mr. Cuellar at Jesse.Cuellar@nisd.net as he will be meeting with all volunteers on Friday morning. The following Sunday, February 16th will be the Glen Miller Orchestra concert in the Brandeis auditorium. There are fewer than 200 seats available. For more information on tickets, please visit BroncoJazz.com. CONCESSIONS We are down to our last few months of concessions and are in need of adult and student help to finish out the year. As per concession rules, children the ages of 15 and above are eligible to volunteer. Please consider signing up for any of the following dates available for the month of Feb/March/April using the link below. On Monday, February 10th a portion of any purchase made in store will be donated to the band program. More details on this event will be sent out soon but be sure to circle the date! UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE Immediately following our ensembles mid-winter performance next Tuesday, the University of North Texas Percussion Ensemble will be performing at Brandeis. The UNT Music School is one of the top programs in the country and we are very excited to have them as a guest. The performance is FREE and open to the public. SCHEDULE CHANGES COMPLETE Based on objectives grades for winds and percussion the previous 6 weeks, all schedule changes have been completed. Students have their assigned ensemble for UIL and will now begin the process of preparing programs for the Concert & Sight Reading assessment in April. Please be reminded that students must achieve an 90 or better on all objectives this 6 weeks to perform with their ensemble at the C&SR assessment.
