HELLO SUBSCRIBERS! Director’s Newsletter #18-18, January 6, 2019
Good afternoon everyone and Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed time off and traveled safely during the holidays, and are now ready to pick up as we hit the turn of the school year. Before getting into the week, I have to take time and thank a few people. Chip Thompson, Will Thompson, Naomy Ybarra, Brent Bjerken, Jeff Makusky, Kyle Birkenfeld, Jerry Crittenden, and Ben Crittenden teamed up yesterday to give our Bronco Trailers a cleaning! Thank you to each of you for donating your time to the program over the break! We ALL appreciate your time and efforts to be sure that our trailers are maintained and look sharp for years to come! We have quite a bit of things happening this week across the entire program. Tuesday through Friday, some of our leaders will be assisting with Instrument Petting Zoos for elementary schools feeding Garcia Middle School. These will be the last of our petting zoos for the school year, as we are working hard to help promote our feeder band programs and grow our Skyhawks and Gladiators into Bronco Band Members. The petting zoos will be before school, and details will be given tomorrow to those students participating. Tuesday is also our Bronco Roundup event where all incoming 8th graders for the entire Brandeis Campus will visit with parents, learn about our great school and community, and tour the campus as well. Winds and the drumline will be briefly performing at this event from 5:45 pm - 6:00 pm. Students will need to wear blue jeans and alternate uniform shirts for this. Report time is 5:30 pm in Band Hall 1. This Saturday is Area Auditions at the University of Texas at Austin. We are currently awaiting specific details but students usually need to report to the Music Building by 8 am. Auditions are an all day event, concluding at different times for each instrument. Students are responsible for their own travel and meals for this. Parents can wait on campus for their student or simply coordinate a drop off and pick up time. Band panoramic photos have been delivered and passed out to students. If you have not received your picture yet, please come see me in the band office. If you did not order a photo but would like to take a look at the picture and order online, you can do so here. Our winter guards, percussion ensembles, and jazz combo/band will resume rehearsals this week so be sure to check the schedule below. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net GO BRONCOS!
