Director’s Newsletter #20-18, January 21, 2019
Good afternoon everyone!
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday. While this week is short, we have a busy schedule ahead of us as well as the start of a new semester.
Yesterday I sent out an announcement regarding our mulch fundraiser. I’ve had a few parents reach out and take the lead on their neighborhoods. Thank you to those of you have. It will take the full team for us to reach our goal but at this point, we certainly have enough time to do so. There are a couple of additional zip codes that we partially serve based on student attendance. The info-graphic has been updated and is available for you. To share as a photo, use the PNG format posted on our Mulch page. Via email, it’s probably easier for you to use the PDF format.
The Honor, Region, and Freshman Region/District Band Clinic & Concert are happening this week at Taft High School. All students who earned a spot in one of these ensembles will need to be present for rehearsal after school on Thursday from 6 pm - 9 pm. Friday, students will be excused from classes to attend all day rehearsal to prepare for their respective concerts that evening. The concerts are free of charge and will be in the Taft auditorium. Each ensemble will begin at a specific time. Please be sure to check with your student what time their ensemble performs.
All students will need to get fitted for their concert uniform attire this week on either Wednesday or Thursday after school. If you student is participating in the All Region Clinic & Concert, they will need to get fitted on Wednesday, to ensure they’re on time to rehearsal on Thursday and have their uniform for the performance on Friday.
Our winter guards will have their first competition this week at Medina Valley HS. The JV guard performs at 12:35 pm and the Varsity guard performs at 3:20 pm. We wish the students and Mrs. King the best of luck on their first performance of the competition season.
The boosters are currently taking orders for the day & night FIESTA parades. The program has three rows of chairs located right across from the San Fernando Cathedral. Front row chairs are $16, middle row chairs are $14, and back row chairs are $12 each. The day parade will be on Friday, April 26th and the night parade will be Saturday, April 27th. You can email your requests to Jennifer Marcha at BBBBParade@gmail.com. With that, I’d also like to extend a big thank you to Ms. Marcha for her help with handling the parade tickets for the program. We appreciate your time very much, Ms. Marcha.
Concession dates have also been posted and we are need of additional adults to sign up to help. Please take a look HERE and sign up based on your availability. It is important that this be a team effort so that we have more parents volunteering less hours overall, rather than few parents handling the majority of the time.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net
GO BRONCOS!
Mr. Asgari
