Good morning everyone!

This week’s newsletter will have information on the following items:

Temple Jazz Festival Recap

Congratulations to our outstanding Jazz Combo & Big Band! Both ensembles received a first division rating at the Temple College Jazz Festival this past Friday. In addition, Brandeis had 13 students named “Outstanding Musicians” of the festival! Thank you to Mr. Cuellar for his outstanding leadership and teaching of our students involved in the jazz program.

Uil Concert & Sightreading Contest

Uil Concert & Sightreading Contest is upon us. The contest will take place over 2 days at Warren High School. The contest is free and open to the public so if you’re available, come out and support our 3 concert bands. Below is the Brandeis schedule:

Wednesday, April 3

Sub Non-Varsity (Freshman/A3) Band - Performance Time: 10:25 am

Non Varsity (A2) Band - Performance Time: 2:40 pm

Thursday, April 4

Varsity (A1) Band - Performance Time: 10:40 am

The Sightreading portion of the contest will immediately follow the concert performance. Sightreading is also open to the public.

Both the Freshman/A3 & Varsity Ensemble need to report to the band hall at 8:30 am on their performance day, dressed in concert attire, ready to depart Brandeis for Warren. These two ensembles will be back at Brandeis prior to the end of the school day.

The A2 ensemble should return to Brandeis around 4:30 pm. Please be sure your student texts/calls their ride on the return to Brandeis to confirm pick up times.

All students will be responsible for any missed work in their other classes on their performance days.

Spring Dinner

On April 17th, we will be having our annual Spring Dinner! Tickets will be handed out to students this week to give them ample time to sell tickets for this event. Please be sure to check with your student to make sure they picked up their tickets. We will visit with the students and decide what our ticket goal for this will be. Like the fall dinner, each student will receive 8 tickets at $8 each. A special thank you to Mrs. Adriana Trevino and Mr. Pete Escobar for heading up this wonderful fundraiser of ours!

Senior Banquet Meeting

Due to a scheduling issue last week, the seniors will meet this Friday at 8:15 am in band hall 1 regarding banquet. Please be sure to attend to give your input.

Cornyval Parking Fundraiser

Just a friendly reminder that the Cornyval Parking Fundraiser is fast approaching. Please make a note in your calendar to help with this fun event!
