Congratulations to our outstanding JV and Varsity Winterguard who competed in the TECA Championships yesterday. This was the final contest of the season where all competing units across the greater San Antonio Area competed one last time to be declared the season champions of their respective divisions. Over the season, our JV unit placed 14th, 5th, and 1st in their first 3 contests in the Scholastic Novice division. Our Varsity placed 2nd, 2nd, and 11th in the Scholastic Regional A division headed into championship weekend. After a recent promotion, our Varsity unit climbed and finished the season earning 7th place in their division out of 14 units. Our JV unit held their ground and finished 1st out of 15 units, winning the circuit, Best Design and Best General Effect in their division. Great work by all of the students over the season. We are very proud of all of your efforts this season and look forward to the future! A very special THANK YOU needs to be given to our Guard parents who have taken outstanding care of our students throughout the year! These parents have made sure that every student is safe, cared for, and prepared all year. Thank you so much Sharon Powell, Amy Thompson, Melinda Escobar, Kris Schmidt, and Jennifer Weidemier. Our guard would not be successful without your consistent care and donation of time. As for our instructor, Mandi King, all of us thank you for all of the great work you have done this year with our students. Your willingness to do everything possible for the greater good of our kids and program is greatly appreciated. Congratulations to you on a wonderful winter season! Fredericksburg Jazz Festival Recap

Spring Dinner Tickets & Event Update As a reminder, spring dinner ticket money is due tomorrow, Monday, April 15th. Band & Guard Fees This is the final week to pay any outstanding band and guard fees. Invoices were sent via email in February to give you the option to pay online via debit or credit card should that . If you need a new invoice emailed to you, please let me know. You can also pay with cash or check. If you send money with your student, please ensure that they hand their fees to me, so that I can make a note on my records. Any student fees not paid by Friday will have their name turned into the front office. This will withhold receiving of their cap & gown, final year transcripts, and registration with the program for the 2019/20 school year. FIESTA Schedule Our FIESTA schedule has been posted on our band website. Please be sure to check dates that your student needs to attend. All events will also be posted on each weekly schedule at the bottom of each newsletter. If your student is ineligible, they can regain eligibility on Thursday, April 25th, the day of the Band Festival. Furthermore, if they are ineligible, they can attend our rehearsals at school, however they cannot attend any rehearsals held off campus (i.e. Alamo Stadium rehearsals). FIESTA Medals

Our very popular Brandeis Band Chucks FIESTA medals are now on sale. I have them available for purchase in the band office. Medals are $10 and are going fast! Be sure to grab one to wear at your favorite Fiesta events this year! Spring Leadership Training Books

We had a GREAT turn out of more than 60 students at our 1st ever Spring Leadership Training this past week. Our current BLT will be putting together presentations from the books Relationships 101 & Attitudes 101 by John Maxwell, and presenting them to the entire group over the next month. I highly encourage your student to pick up a copy of both books. You can find them on Amazon for around $10 each. Our next Spring Leadership Training will be on Tuesday, April 23rd. Students, be sure to mark your calendars! Band Banquet Invitations Update Banquet tickets can still be purchased for $50 until Wednesday, April 17th. After the 17th, the cost of banquet tickets will go up. Invitations were sent home on April 5th. Please be sure that your student has shared those with you or click HERE to view the ticket order form. Please note, that if your student brings a guest to the banquet who is not a member of the program, the student’s name must be turned into me and a ticket must be purchased for him/her so that the guests can be placed on the entry list. Any name not on our banquet entry list, will not be allowed entry. Senior Pictures for Banquet At band banquet, each senior has a brief video clip showing a few pictures of each student. This year, each clip will be produced by Mr. Joe Aigner-Varoz. If you have a senior student and have yet to turn in pictures, please email a baby, middle school, and senior portrait photo to Joseph.Aigner-Varoz@hotmail.com Prom Tickets Prom tickets are now on sale for $60. They are available for purchase in the Brandeis counseling office. Only seniors may purchase tickets for prom. “Band 101” Meeting Date On Tuesday, April 30th, we will have our very first “Band 101” meeting in the band hall. This will be an opportunity for our parents to learn a little more about the ins and outs of our structure as well as how their student can get the most out of the program. There will also be plenty of time for me to answer any specific questions you may have as well. Cornyval Parking Fundraiser Parents, please mark your calendars to volunteer at what has been called “the best parent fundraiser” we have all year...Cornyval parking!
