FIESTA Recap

Congratulations to the Brandeis Bronco Band & Colorguard who placed 3rd in the 6A Category of the Battle of Flowers Parade on Friday. The program was also selected as recipients of the Future of Music Grant sponsored by the Tobin Center on Thursday night at the Battle of the Bands Festival.

A job well done by all of the students handling the schedule of rehearsal, band festival, and the battle of flowers parade. Yet, an event like this wouldn’t be possible to execute well without our great parents leading the way. Many people involved took days off from work and shifted personal schedules, to make sure our kids were taken care of. A special thank you to all of the parents below:

I’d also like to thank Jennifer Marcha for leading our parade chairs fundraiser, along with Arnold Marcha and Chip Thompson for helping with the setup of the chairs. The chairs sold out for both events!

The amount of help listed above speaks to what kind of parent organization we have. The students and staff value you so much and I hope you know how much you are appreciated.

Cornyval Parking Fundraiser

It’s time to turn our focus to our final fundraiser of the year. The Cornyval parking fundraiser starts this Thursday, May 2 through May 5. We need quite a number of volunteers to sign up. If you are available, please sign up HERE. Don’t forget, there are many great incentives for students to participate as well.

Percussion Audition Camp & Parent Meeting

Now we start making the turn into 2019/20 with our 2 week percussion camp and auditions. Camp starts this week with all returning members and Incoming Freshman. Camp is every day after school, from 4:30 pm - 6 pm. We are having a percussion parent audition meeting tomorrow, at 6 pm in the band hall. If you have a student in the percussion section, please be sure to be in attendance to get the protocol and procedures for this audition.

Band 101 Meeting

On Tuesday at 6 pm, we will have our very first Band 101 meeting in the band hall. I’d like to invite ALL PARENTS, especially those who did not participate in band, have freshman students, or have general questions about the program to attend. We will talk about things such as upcoming auditions for marching spots, program protocol and procedures, program cost, and any other topic you need information on.

Field Dance Company Meeting

We officially begin our the Brandeis Field Dance Company with our parent and student meeting on Wednesday at 6 pm. If you have a student participating and enrolled in the Field Dance Company, please be sure to attend to get a little more insight into the course, and outdoor ensemble your student will be participating in! The meeting will be led by Ms. Aguirre and myself.

Banquet Decoration Meeting

I have to preface this next statement with a reminder that the seniors voted on this, and I can’t believe that I’m about to write this but, Minecraft has taken over band banquet and the decorations are needing temporary storage. So, Ms. Tristan, our banquet chair would like to have a meeting with parents and students who can help with decorations for banquet. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 1 at 6 pm in Band Hall 2.

Band Banquet Invitations Update

Banquet tickets are now $60 per person. Please send in your money to purchase for this great evening!

Remember that if your student brings a guest to the banquet who is not a member of the program, the student’s name must be turned into me and a ticket must be purchased for him/her so that the guests can be placed on the entry list. Any name not on our banquet entry list, will not be allowed entry.

Senior Pictures for Banquet

If you have a senior student and have yet to turn in pictures, please email a baby, middle school, and senior portrait photo to Joseph.Aigner-Varoz@hotmail.com as discussed in last week’s newsletter.
