Director’s Newsletter #9-19, October 20, 2019 Good morning! I hope everyone has had a restful Sunday! Here is what you will find in this week's newsletter: •UIL MARCHING CONTEST •FALL DINNER •BURGERS WITH THE BRONCOS •UPDATED SCHEDULE •PROGRESS REPORTS •RED RIBBON WEEK •DISNEY PAYMENT #4 •SMUGMUG UIL Congratulations to the Bronco Band for earning straight 1s at the UIL Region Marching contest yesterday! This is the 12th consecutive Superior Rating for the marching ensemble and concludes our competitive season for the fall. It was very special for all staff and students to see so many Broncos in the stands to watch. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the student's performance!

Additionally, a special thanks to all of our parents who helped spread the word and assisted with our band hall decorating for UIL. It always takes a great amount of communication without director involvement, and our parents do a wonderful job of creating a great atmosphere for our students. Thank you for all of your support! FALL DINNER This is a reminder that fall dinner tickets went out 2 weeks ago. After some deliberation, the program goal is to sell 1500 tickets. Please help us reach our goal by selling the 8 tickets assigned to your student ALL MONEY & UNSOLD TICKETS ARE DUE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd, AND NEED TO BE HANDED TO ME, PLEASE. It is extremely important to have all unsold tickets returned by this date so we can see how large of a crowd we need to prepare food for. BRONCOS & BURGERS The athletics department is having their annual Burgers With The Broncos on Saturday, October 26th. We encourage all of our parents and students to come out to the athletics field and support this great cause! Tickets are $10 and you can purchase them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during school lunches, or even prior to kick off at Farris on Thursday night at 6 pm. Read the flyer for more information. UPDATED SCHEDULE With contest season concluded, our rehearsal schedule will change from week to week. Please be sure to check the schedule at the bottom of the newsletter. Remember that the 2nd week projection is tentative and can change. PROGRESS REPORTS Grades will be entered for progress reports on Friday. Please be sure that your student completes any outstanding assignments with their teachers so that their work may reflect their grade. Progress reports will be sent home next Monday. RED RIBBON WEEK This week, we encourage all students to participate our campus' Red Ribbon Week. Each day is a new theme to take part in. Monday - Wear Red "We're REaDy to make a difference" Tuesday - Wear your favorite band shirt (ahem...Bronco Band) "Band together against drugs!" Wednesday - Wear hippie or tye-dye clothes "Say peace out to drugs!" Thursday - Wear orange "Orange you proud you don't do drugs?" Friday - Wear your favorite team jersey or cap "Team up against drugs!" Also, our drumline will be showing support at Scobee elementary school tomorrow morning, playing for students at their Red Ribbon Rally! Drumline students need to report to school at 7:15 am in jeans and their alternate band shirts as we will travel together on a bus. DISNEY PAYMENT #4 Payment #4 for our Disney World trip is now due. Please make your payment online HERE. SMUGMUG Don't forget that SmugMug is up and running for the 2019-20 school year! Thanks to Mr. Aigner-Varoz for taking so many photos of our kids and get them into our galley, which is free for you! To see pictures taken so far, please visit BrandeisBand.SmugMug.com.
