Hello Subscribers,

Congratulations to our 2018-2019 Drum Majors: Jamie Dart head drum major, Diego Mullin 1st assistant, Cade Kouba 2nd assistant. The Guard Captians are: Katelyn Schmidt and Emily Powell. The section leaders are: Flute; Kayla Goodman and Marisa Hinojosa, Clarinet: Calli Recore and Annie Villarreal, Alto Sax: Daniel Soria, Low Woodwind: Jaselle Reginaldo, Trumpet: Ian Aigner-Varoz and Kyle Owens, Horn: Ben Walls, Trombone: Jonathan Kressbach, Baritone: Caelan Matthews, Tuba: Sam Williams, Drum Captain: Nick Burroughs, Pit Captain: Emilio Magallan and Brooke Schmoyer. Congrats to the 2018-2019 Band Leadership Team (BLT). The “Spirit Of Brandeis” will be in good hands with the strong student leadership!

Huge THANKS to everyone who volunteered to work the parking lot at the Cornyval Festival. A Special THANKS to Keith Kouba for planning, organizing, and chairing; and thanks to his committee and supervisors, for executing this very profitable fund raiser for the Band Boosters. Thanks to the students who volunteered to work the event. We still have one more day of this fund raiser so to students and parents, just show up anytime on Sunday, any time between 12 noon and 8 p.m., and the supervisors will find a place for you to work. Corynval is located at the Helotes Fair Grounds.

The Band Booster Board and General meetings have been moved to May 15th, due to some conflicts with the schedule. The Board meeting will be at 6 p.m. Make plans to attend the General Meeting and Potluck at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, May 10th the Band Boosters will be serving lunch to the Brandeis Faculty and staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. If you would like to volunteer to help serve, please contact at: Bronco Band Boosters Hospitality: Nancy Wood (Nancytwood@msn.com) and Courtney Owens (Courtags@sbcglobal.net).

On Thursday, the Brandeis Jazz Band and Jazz Combo will give their final concert of the school year at 6:30 p.m. in the BHS Auditorium. The Garcia and Stinson Middle School Jazz Bands will also perform as our special guest along with our feature artist, Matthew Maldonado. The concert is free to the public, so I hope you can attend and listen to our very talented students.

The 2nd period and 3rd period bands will rehearse on Friday at 7:30 a.m. in order to prepare for the May 17 Spring Band Concert. All other bands will rehearse their music during their class period.

Be sure to review the weekly schedule to help your student be where they need to be, if they are involved in any of this week’s events. Don’t forget that freshmen are testing End of Course this week, so ask your child what day they are testing. The first of many AP tests begin on Monday, so ask your child when their AP test will be throughout the month of May. As always, thank you for your support of the “Spirit of Brandeis” Bronco Band.
