Director’s Newsletter #6-18, September 30, 2018

Good afternoon everyone!

Before reading any further…

Text BAND3 to 44332!

Thank you! You’re awesome!

Let’s proceed…

Congratulations to all members of the Bronco Marching Band as the group competed at the East Central Hornet Invitational yesterday, earning 1st place and outstanding percussion! The students have been working very hard and deserve so much credit for having a great showing our first contest out. I hope the students took time to enjoy this and are now ready to get back to work as we prepare for the next leg in our competitive season. Thank you to all of our parents & roadies who invest so much time and heart into our kids and program. They literally move a small army every week and are always looking for more ways to positively contribute to our program.

THANK YOU!

Congratulations to front ensemble member Max Thibodeau, clarinet player Lizzie Crittenden, Guard member Nancy Nguyen, Trumpet Co-Section Leader Kyle Owens, and the Baritones for being awarded our Freshman, Band Member, Guard Member, Officer, and Section of the Week respectively. Nothing is better than seeing students recognized for their hard work! Congratulations to all!

The 6th week of the grading period has arrived. Please be sure students are completing their assignments and working with their teachers to ensure their eligibility to continue on with all extra curricular activities.

A new Private Lessons page has been added to the Bronco Band Website. This page will be updated from time to time with new additions to our private lessons staff. Parents, I cannot stress enough the importance and huge benefit that your student can take advantage of with weekly private lessons. Nothing is greater than personalized instruction from a professional teacher for your student. Find a teacher you are interested in and send them an email to set up lessons. CLICK HERE to check out our lesson teachers!

Tomorrow, we head to Farris Stadium for our NISD Pre-Uil performance. The band performs at 7:45pm. We will treat this like a regular game day. Students will need to bring alternate uniforms, plain high black socks, and marching shoes with them to school in the morning. We will feed students prior to departure and should return to BHS around 8:30 pm. The event is free so come out and support your students tomorrow night!

Best of luck to Ian Aigner-Varoz, Andrew Flores, and Cade Kouba as they tape for their audition into the Texas All State Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday! We are so very proud of you as you represent Brandeis at the next level in the process. Have a great audition!

With a bye week upon us for the football team, we are all systems go as we head to Judson Stadium this weekend for the Rocket Review Marching Band contest. Our performance time is 7 pm, with the contest concluding around 830pm. Students will need to report to the band hall at 2pm. If you’d like more information about the contest, please visit http://www.jhsrocketreview.org/

Next week, we resume our regular football schedule and it’s time for the CRUSH game! Dr. Berger and the admin team have released information on ticket sales, which can be found HERE. Please make sure that you read all the details on the flyer to ensure clear communication.

The last day to retest all band objectives is Thursday, October 4. Please be sure your student has completed all of their assignments. The staff HIGHLY ENCOURAGES your student not to wait until the last minute to complete these.

We have around 600 Bronco Cards that are either still unsold or still checked out. Please check with your student to see if they have turned in their Bronco Card money as we continue to push forward with this great fundraiser!

As an early notice, on Monday, October 8th (school holiday) we will be having a marching band rehearsal. The time of rehearsal is still TBD. As soon as it is solidified, I will be sure to get those details out.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and GO BRONCOS!

-Mr. Asgari
