Director's Newsletter #9-18, October 21

HELLO SUBSCRIBERS! Director’s Newsletter #9-18, October 21, 2018 Good afternoon everyone! I hope all of you enjoyed the band free weekend and took time to relax with friends and family. We are back on this weekend, as we head into AREA Marching Contest on Saturday. Currently, we do NOT have a performance time yet but should receive our time tomorrow or Tuesday. As soon as we do, we will get the information out to everyone. Congratulations to baritone player Matthew Schofield, baritone player Aidan Quintanilla, Guard member Elizabeth Reed, Front Ensemble Co-Section Leader Brooke Schmoyer, and the Trumpets for being awarded our Freshman, Band Member, Guard Member, Officer, and Section of the Week respectively.

Our band panoramic picture has been rescheduled due to the rain, and currently TBD. We should hopefully lock down a time in the next week or so. However, now that our color guard uniforms have come in, Morgan Photography will come in on Thursday and take individual photos of our color guard members during their 8th-period class. Details regarding price and photo packages can be found HERE. On Wednesday we will be at Farris rehearsing after school (as long as the weather cooperates). We will also be having after school rehearsal on Monday & Tuesday but will be dividing up rehearsal by section. For the Farris rehearsal, students can get picked up from the stadium unless they are in the percussion or tuba sections. Those students will need to return to campus to unload instruments. ALL STUDENTS will need their marching shoes and alternate uniform shirts for rehearsal Wednesday. Fall dinner ticket money (and any unsold tickets) are due this TUESDAY. Please make sure that all money and tickets are handed to me so that I can keep a count of tickets sold, as well as of those students who qualify for the cash prize drawings. Details for this are in last week’s newsletter. The dinner will be next week, Tuesday, October 30th. This is a mandatory performance for all students. The bands from Garcia & Stinson Middle Schools will be joining us for a fun night of music, so be sure to keep this on your calendar!
