Director’s Newsletter #10-18, October 28, 2018

Good afternoon everyone!

What a fun Saturday for our kids, parents, staff, & community! Congratulations to the band & colorguard for finishing 6th in Area H Finals. As I told the kids, this is one of the toughest areas in the state of Texas. We are so very proud of the progress the students have made throughout the year and look forward to build upon this as we move into the future.

Roadies & Chaperones, you are absolute SUPER STARS to our students and staff. This season has been full of HUNDREDS of volunteered hours and sacrifice on your part. The list of things you do for us is always growing and everything always gets done! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

To all the parents who came out to cheer on our students at our performances & after at school, there is no better feeling for the students than hearing you from the stands before we take the field, and during. We appreciate you making our students and staff feel so special and loved!

So much extra support and recognition has been pouring in to the band. From Dr. Berger and Mr. McKenna, to Coach Branscom and the Athletic Boosters, the Fine Arts Department, and many counselors, teachers & staff, we love you for the constant support! There’s nothing like being a Bronco!

Lastly, I’d like to thank Mr. Cuellar & Mr. Suarez for their continuous hard work! I’m so fortunate to have been selected to work with them. They are incredible teachers, motivators, and people. It is an honor to work beside such great leaders and for our kids to learn so much from them each day.

But we aren’t done yet…

On Friday, we go to one of the toughest contests in the country in Bands of America, San Antonio. We perform at 11:15 am, at the Alamodome. We will discuss logistical details with the students however, students will be back at school before the end of the day. Therefore, there will not be any additional/extra hours out of the normal school day. For information such as full contest schedule and ticket costs, please visit www.MusicForAll.org

Congratulations to saxophone player Nick Offreda, trumpet player Bailey Moss, Guard member Jackie Cervantes, Trumpet Co-Section Leader Ian Aigner-Varoz, and the Drumline for being awarded our Freshman, Band Member, Guard Member, Officer, and Section of the Week respectively. Keep up the outstanding work!

Our fall dinner fundraiser is this Tuesday, October 30th. This is a mandatory performance for all students. The bands from Garcia & Stinson Middle Schools will be joining us for a fun night. This year, we set a goal of selling 650 tickets to the dinner. So far, the students have sold 922 tickets! What a team effort! Thank you to all who have contributed to the LARGE surpassing of this goal. We still have some out, so please get your students to turn their money and unsold tickets into me tomorrow.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and GO BRONCOS!
