HELLO SUBSCRIBERS!

Director’s Newsletter #21-18, January 27, 2019

Good afternoon everyone!

It was a short but full week, with plenty of reasons to celebrate our students.

Congratulations to both of our Winter Guards who had their first contest of the season at Medina Valley High School. Our JV guard competed with 21 other units from across South Texas and placed 14th. Our Varsity guard competed with 18 other units and finished 2nd! Congratulations to all of our guard students and Mrs. King for a great first outing of the season. We can’t wait to see where the productions go the rest of the winter season!

On Thursday & Friday, Region 29 held the All Honor and Region Band Clinic & Concert at Taft High School. Qualifying from the TMEA auditions beginning in November, students from schools around the region came together, rehearsed for 9 hours, and put on three wonderful concerts. Between the three bands, the Bronco Band had FIFTY students participating! A job well done to all of those students and of course, their wonderful parents for continually supporting them on their musical endeavors.

There is some interesting data that tells as to how we had 50 students participating this past weekend. A couple of weeks ago, the band staff took a simple survey from students asking about lessons.

Here is the data we found:

It is important that we increase our numbers of students studying privately, especially if it is monetarily feasible for the student’s family. Additionally, studying privately will primarily benefit the student’s enjoyment of the activity. We enjoy doing things that we do well, and lessons certainly help in that regard. For additional benefits of lessons for your student, please take 5 minutes and read this article.

Mulch sales have kicked off and we’ve had orders come in daily. Please help spread the word regarding our fundraiser with your neighborhoods and contribute to our student’s success. Again, if you are interested in taking the lead on your neighborhood, please contact me and let me know.

Please be sure to check the calendar below for this week’s events and as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net

GO BRONCOS!
