Good afternoon everyone! Here are the items covered this week: •Mid-Winter Concert Recap •Mulch Contest & Section Standings •Field Dance Company •Solo & Ensemble •Varsity Ensemble Danzon Objectives •SNAP CODE REMINDER

Mid-Winter Concert Recap

I’d like to thank all of our parents and other supporters for making time to attend our first concert performance of the year. It was wonderful to see our instrumentalist students get back into performance mode as we now head into our UIL season. Our next performance will be the PRE UIL concert in late March. Thank you to all who attended and your consistent support!

Mulch Contest & Section Standings

This is the final week to order your mulch! Remember that the deadline has been extended to next Sunday, February 24th. Regarding the section contest, the students took a vote on how they’d like the bags sold to be tallied. They chose to have all bags sold from the start of the fundraiser, counted as part of the contest.

Below are the current section standings:

Section - Bags sold per member of the section Low Woodwinds/Double Reeds...17.80 French Horns....................................11.14 Clarinets..............................................10.48 Trumpets............................................10.14 Baritones............................................10.21 Percussion............................................4.58 Trombones............................................4.13 Tubas......................................................3.56 Saxophones..........................................3.22 Flutes......................................................3.21 Guard......................................................0.42 Top Individual Sellers Mikael Hogan - 149 Maggie Reyes - 107 Jamie Dart - 100 Emma Aune - 76 Connor Havens - 75 Lizzie Crittenden - 62 Alaina Judd - 55 Abby Anders - 54 Sophia Gomez - 54

Field Dance Company

For those of you who support the Bronco Band on Facebook, you saw an announcement introducing the Brandeis exclusive program, Field Dance Company. The Brandeis Administration and Counseling teams have worked extremely hard to create a course that will allow our dance students an opportunity to join our outdoor performing group. This is something that has been discussed at length due to the nature of the marching activity becoming more modern and contemporary.

Granted, none of this would have been an option if it weren’t for our outstanding dance teacher, Ms. Aguirre, and her willingness to join the band staff. She will integral to our productions and vision of our outdoor program. We are very excited to welcome Ms. Aguirre to the Bronco Band family!

Solo & Ensemble

Thursday is the Solo & Ensemble contest. Mr. Cuellar & Mr. Suarez have been working for weeks on the schedule and a preliminary schedule was posted last week. The contest will be held at Brandeis in the fine arts wing. Students should verify and communicate their performance time with their parents to confirm pick up times. Students who are ineligible may still perform their solo, but for a grade instead of a UIL rating. If your student is using a piano accompanist, please be sure that your student pays their accompanist on or before the day of the contest. While the staff did find qualified accompanists for our students, the district, school, and band program are not responsible for fees charged.

Varsity Ensemble Danzon Objectives

The Varsity ensemble has an objective for this six weeks due on Wednesday, February 20th. I will be staying after school on Tuesday to listen to anyone who needs to complete their assignments. Students can also schedule appointments with me during their lunch, off periods, or before school.

Snap Code Reminder

Parents if you have yet to complete the online registration process that was sent home with progress reports, please do so immediately. Failure to do so could create an issue with future course selections.

Please be sure to check the calendar below for this week’s events and as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net

Have a great week!

GO BRONCOS!

-Mr. Asgari
