SPRING CONCERT RECAP

Thursday evening was the final performance for the 2018/19 Bronco Band. We are so proud of this group, especially our seniors for the work and accomplishments they earned this past year. We hope all of you enjoyed the evening as much as we did!

I’d like to take time to also thank the Brandeis Theater department for their service all year long in our auditorium. From working the lights, to the sound system among many other areas, they help produce each event that goes on. For your time and help, the band program thanks you!

TMEA REGION JAZZ ETUDES

The TMEA Region Jazz etudes came out this week. If your student is interested in auditioning, please have them see Mr. Cuellar for this music. I highly encourage those that will be auditioning to take private lessons, especially over the summer to prepare for this very early audition. For information on lesson teachers, visit our band website and you can also contact Mr. Cuellar at Jesse.Cuellar@nisd.net.

COLORGUARD AUDITION CAMP

This week we will have our first Colorguard audition camp. It will be Tuesday - Friday, from 4:30 pm - 6 pm. All prospective guard members should attend to begin training on what they will be assessed on to earn a guard spot. Students should wear comfortable, school approved athletic gear and have low top runner/cross training type shoes.

DRUM MAJOR CAMPAIGNS

On Wednesday morning at 7:45 am, we invite all program members to the band hall to watch all drum major candidates conduct a piece of music and discuss why they want to be a drum major. At the conclusion of all candidates, we will allow those in attendance to vote for who they feel would be a great drum major. For transparency purposes, any student not arriving before the start of the 1st candidate, will not be able to view the rest of the candidates or vote.

CUSTOM BAND TOP PURCHASE FOR 2019 MARCHING SEASON

As discussed last week, all wind and percussion students will need to purchase their own band top. You can pay for your students top via the band website store. Please be sure this is paid for by June 1st. Here is a link to the item to take care of this today.

BLT INTERVIEWS

We have begun our interview process this past week for all students who are applying for a leadership position. If your student has applied, they need to complete their interview by this Wednesday.

DRUM MAJOR AUDITIONS & PARENT MEETING

Tomorrow will be our parent meeting for those who have students auditioning for Drum Major. Please make sure to attend as we will discuss the audition process that students will be participating in on Wednesday during auditions. The meeting begins at 6 pm in the band hall.

MIDDLE SCHOOL VISITS

For our incoming parents, this week the band staff will be listening to students from both Garcia and Stinson Middle school. These will take place during their band classes in the school day. Should we not get to hear everyone, we will make time to hear those missed next week at our music camp.

SMUGMUG BAND BANQUET PICTURES & VIDEOS

If you’d like to see all of the photos and videos from band banquet, be sure to visit the program’s smugmug page HERE. Special thank you to both Joe Aigner-Varoz and Krista Burroughs for their consistent uploading of photos and videos for our community!

SPIRIT MEETING

On Thursday, May 23rd, Ms. Tristan is having a spirit meeting at Las Palapas 1604 & Hausman at 7 pm. Please attend as they will begin discussions for next year's inventory and items. We are also in need of a parent to take the reigns of the spirit program. If you are interested, please send me an email.

Please be sure to check the calendar below for this week’s events and as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net.

GO BRONCOS!
