The percussion section has officially kicked off our 2019 contest season with a great showing among some of the most outstanding percussion programs across the state. Great job, Bronco Beats! BRONCOS OF THE WEEK Congratulations to the following students and section for earning our weekly awards this past week! Band Member of the Week: Fernando Pena Field Dance Member of the Week: Priya Raja Freshman of the Week: Nathan Herrada Guard Member of the Week: Rebekah Dooley Leader of the Week: Mia Rasmussen Section of the Week: Saxophones BAND AP BREAKFAST This week is the AP Breakfast for students at Brandeis HS. In order to keep our rehearsal schedule continuity, I have worked with administration to schedule a separate Band AP Breakfast that will happen on Tuesday morning in the LGI room at 8 am. Students in the program who are registering for AP exams need to go to Tuesday's breakfast so that they attend rehearsal on Wednesday morning. OBJECTIVES Objectives were passed out to all wind/percussion classes 2 weeks ago. These are their playing assignments for the 6 weeks. This 6 weeks, students are to play off their marching show music individually. Students can retest multiple times to earn as high of a grade as possible. Students are responsible for setting an appointment with directors to play off their music. They have until Wednesday, October 2nd to complete their assignments. Please be sure your student does not wait until the last minute to test off their 1st attempt. We give them assignments early to allow them to continually improve and receive feedback from us. EAST CENTRAL MARCHING CONTEST This Saturday is our first marching band contest at the East Central Marching Contest. Students will need to report at 12:00 noon. Please be sure your student eats prior to arrival at Brandeis. Students will need to wear their black compression shirts and shorts, tall plain black socks, and marching shoes. Students need to wear shorts and their band shirt over their compression gear for run through. Our contest uniforms do not have hats. All students with long hair will need to have their hair tied up and into a bun. We will cover how students with short hair should style their hair this week during classes so that we are as uniform as possible. We will be competing in the 6A division that begins at 2:45 pm. We will perform at 4:30 pm and are the 2nd to the last performing group of the day. Feel free to arrive early and watch some of the other groups performing. You can get more details about the contest HERE. LETTERMAN JACKET FITTING & SALES Early last week, we sent an announcement via the Band app that the company doing letterman jacket fittings and sales will be at Brandeis on Wednesday afternoon in the band hall at 4:15 pm. Pricing packets are available in the band hall and the company will have more available on Wednesday should we run out. Purchasing a letterman jacket is optional and at your discretion. BRONCO CARDS So far, the Bronco Band & partners have sold more than 2,400 Bronco cards! However, we are not done yet. With around 700 cards still checked out to students, please double check that your student has turned in his/her money to the band office. We still have some cards left if you need more. Help us make this our best Bronco Card fundraiser yet! Please be sure to check the calendar below for this week’s events and as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Daniel.Asgari@nisd.net.
