Congratulations to the Bronco Band for winning the East Central Hornet Invitational on Saturday. The band came out 1st out of 8 groups in the 6A division and also won the caption award for Best Guard/Field Dance! Fantastic job by all students and teachers involved. I hope they took time to enjoy this accomplishment over the short weekend as we head into week 2 of contest season and are ready to get back at it. VISTA RIDGE MARCHING CONTEST This week the band will travel to Cedar Park, TX to participate in the Vista Ridge Marching Festival. Run through will be at 9 am on Saturday. Please be sure your students arrive early dressed in their compression gear, alternate uniforms over their compression gear, high plain black socks, and clean marching shoes. Students need to eat breakfast prior to arrival but it is advised to stay away from dairy incase of heat. This is a PRELIMS & FINALS EVENT. Meaning we will perform at 3:15 pm. At the conclusion of prelims (5:45 pm) the top 10 bands will be selected to perform in finals. The band is staying whether or not we make finals. The 10 bands selected will draw for performance times in finals, with the first performance starting at 7 pm. Awards for finalists will be at 10:45 pm. Following awards, we will head back to BHS with an expected return time of approximately 1:15 am. We will be feeding students lunch and dinner for this event. We are also stopping at Buc-ee's on the way there and back for a restroom break. More information about the contest is available on the flyer below.
TWIRLING UIL Congratulations to Daniella Torres who competed in the UIL Twirling contest at Stevens HS on Saturday. She earned a 1st division for her performance and qualifies for State Solo & Ensemble later this school year! Way to go Daniella!!

THANK YOU! A huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers this past week! With contest season mode in full effect, our parent support is never more obvious and necessary to put our students and program in the best possible position to be successful. It truly takes 1,000 hands to do what we do and I am so thankful for all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you! BAND FEES Final band fees are now due. If you have an outstanding balance, an invoice will be emailed to you over the next few days. Please be sure you take care of these. You can send cash/check with your student but please make sure they hand their fees directly to me so that I may update your account. DO NOT drop fees into the safe before seeing me. If you pay online, there is a processing fee that will be charged. STADIUM REHEARSAL We will be rehearsing at Farris Stadium on Tuesday from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. If your student does NOT play tuba or is a percussionist, they may be picked up from the stadium that evening. Tubas and percussionists will need to return to school to help unload the trailers. We will need parents who plan on helping at the Vista Ridge contest, specifically with props, to help at this rehearsal. We need to get a few reps of set up/tear down procedures at this rehearsal so that Saturday runs smoothly. If it rains, our back up plan is to have rehearsal at school from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. GRADES This is the final week of the grading period. The expectations of all Bronco Band members is to pass all classes, every 6-weeks grading period. As stated in the handbook, "Academic ineligibility for two consecutive grading cycles may result in removal from the organization." All students must have a 70 or better in all Non-P-AP/AP courses. If a student's grade in a P-AP/AP course is between a 60 - 69, your student is eligible to receive an academic waiver that will keep him/her eligible. However, students are only allowed three P-AP/AP waivers per academic school year. All grades will be finalized by teachers no later than 4:15 pm on Friday, October 4th. Please be sure your student does not wait until the last minute on overdue assignments. If your student does not pass the above grade thresholds, they will be ineligible beginning Friday, October 11th at 4:15 pm. Students will not participate in any pep-rallies, football games, or band contests with the program following that date and time. Furthermore, they will not have an opportunity to regain eligibility until Friday, November 1st, thus ending their competitive marching season. Please know that I understand the time demands of the program and any extra-curricular activity but upholding academic responsibilities is most important. SHOW SHIRTS We still have a few show shirts available for purchase. Many of you did purchase some on Friday but your student did not come and pick up your order. We will be sure to get those out to them tomorrow. If you'd like to purchase a shirt to show your support of the program, please do so HERE.
